The Information Centre for Business Standardisation and Certification (BSC Information Centre) is an institution founded by the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina by the Establishment Act of 7 October, 2009.
The BSC Information Centre arose as a result of the Business Standardisation and Certification Scheme programme implementation, one of the priority programmes of the AP of Vojvodina Economic Development Plan. The programme carrier was the Provincial Secretariat of Economy.
The BSC Information Centre was founded with the technical and financial support of the Austrian Development Agency and with the Austrian Standardisation Institute expert support.
The BSC Centre has signed the Scientific – Technical Cooperation Agreement with the University of Novi Sad, whereas the Agreement on Cooperation with Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina is in the process of being prepared.
Excellent cooperation has been achieved with the Institute for Standardisation of Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina.
The BSC Information Centre is a modern and flexible organisation operating with optimal use of available resources and completely meeting the needs of the beneficiaries in the AP of Vojvodina in the areas of standardisation and certification.
The Information Centre, as an integral part of the quality infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, by performing activities it has been founded for, will contribute to the accelerated harmonisation of national regulations with the European ones.
The Centre provides advisory services and trainings in the area of implementation of harmonised standards; it also builds up capacities for conformity assessment and for certification of products and persons so as to comply with the European Directives requirements in order to place goods and services on the European market.
Although the BSC Centre has only started with its activities, it has already achieved significant results:
Within the BSC programme framework a training of implementation of requirements of the standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 has been organised for small and medium enterprises from Vojvodina in cooperation with regional chambers of commerce in Vojvodina. So far, 150 SMEs have been educated in this way.
It is very important to note that $ 150,000.00 have been provided by ADF for BSC programme support. The fund has been spent for co-financing consulting services for the needs of 42 enterprises.
Within the framework of BSC support programme approximately 100 enterprises have been certified.
After having been equipped, BSC Centre will provide services in the area of product testing (at the moment a preparation for the possibility of testing low-voltage devices and grinding tools is in the process of being prepared).
The feasibility study has confirmed the justification for the need for formation of a regional centre, and the feasibility study has been done by the Faculty of Technical Sciences experts.
The Implementation of the BSC Centre programme facilitates our manufacturers with a possibility to have a higher extent of market freedom. By overcoming the technical barriers the principle of free movement of goods may be realised in the European Union.
